Chance Meetings
screening, curation
Blickle Kino, Belvedere 21 (Wien, Austria) | 2025–2026
"Chance Meetings" is a screening cycle, curated by Maggessi/Morusiewicz, that brings the Ursula Blickle Video Archive (UBVA) in dialogue with independent film archiving and collecting institutions. These collaborations are occasions to think about film (as a medium) and the archives/collections (as sites) that are resistant, that can be vessels and/or actors in acts of resistance. In the first episode, the duo sets the UBVA in a dialogue with ARGOS (Brussels, BE), bringing together filmworks that think through the potential of moving image to last both as material (or its remains) and as an image in one’s mind. The screening presents the films interspersed with audiovisual interventions, created by the duo of artists-curators. The interventions function as contaminating refrains and stream-of-consciousness-bridges to the programmed films, imbuing the curated program with context and affective content.
This cycle has featured two screenings (the third is planned in the second half of 2026):

As long as I see birds flying I know I am alive (dir. Ria Pacquée, 2015)
