playlists, s01e08, "A Sharp Crack" (Apr 2020-Feb 2021)

Still far away from the proper query into "Polish communist films" (which sounds to me like a misnomer, but it's catchy), this playlist explores music videos and gay mostly-vintage porn shorts and feature films, featuring the whimsically artsy and very very normatively white, muscular, young, and lean cis-male bodies. Temporally, it also touches upon today: there are videos by Klein, Tirzah, Ela Orleans (with the video by Logan Owlbeemoth), and Kobieta z wydm, all of whom evoke the post-VHS aesthetics through editing, image graininess, or in-your-face glitch running across the screen. Mostly though, it’s the mid-to-late 1970s. 

Playlists are gif-able audiovisual collages that result from my queries into music and film. Sometimes incidental and at other times project-oriented, they all share a similar duration, one that would fit a 90-minute cassette tape or, more specifically, its two 45-minute sides, one that could be played at one sitting or entered and exited at any point, without any loss on the plot.
