This playlist digs deeper into its core functionality of being a query into specifically situated films: Poland in the 1950s-1980s. While I am no longer interested in delimiting my film-study area, I still feel the urge to explore the field, since I haven't seen or revisited a great number of films done during the era. One trope is "women's cinema," pertaining to a few cis-female filmmakers, who directed at that time, with the most prominent names being Wanda Jakubowska, Agnieszka Holland, and Barbara Sass. This playlist compiles excerpts from four films of the latter, each of which starts Dorota Stalińska. Apart from four different female protagonists, Sass's films feature a range of supporting characters, including Debutante's Elżbieta Czyżewska and Bożena Adamek, Without Love's Barbara Horawianka and Małgorzata Zajaczkowska, and The Scream's Iga Cembrzyńska.
